The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Canada provides young people aged
14-24 with a globally recognized framework for personal growth. Through hands-on learning in
community service, physical activity, skill development, and adventurous journeys, youth gain
confidence, resilience, and essential life skills.
The YES is an Award Centre in British Columbia offering the Award virtually with in-person Adventurous Journey activities on beautiful Vancouver Island and the Interior of BC.
How Does the Award Work?
The Award is your passport to epic adventures and awesome achievements! Think of it as your ultimate quest, divided into three legendary levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each level is like unlocking a new level in a video game, with four exciting challenges waiting to be conquered.

BRONZE LEVEL AWARD
Minimum Starting Age is 14+
Get started with 13 weeks of community service, skills development, and physical recreation. Then, plan an adventurous 2-day journey with your friends. It’s all about trying new things and having fun while building confidence!
SILVER LEVEL AWARD
Minimum Starting Age is 15+
Take it up a notch! Spend 26 weeks improving your skills, fitness, and helping others. Your adventurous journey is now a 3-day, 2-night challenge where you’ll explore new environments and push your limits.
GOLD LEVEL AWARD
Minimum Starting Age is 16+
This is the ultimate challenge! Commit to 52 weeks of activities across five sections. Your adventurous journey will stretch over 4 days and 3 nights, plus you’ll complete a Gold Project working with new people on a meaningful adventure or cause.It’s a life-changing experience!

SILVER LEVEL CONTINUING AWARD
This program is for teens continuing with the Award who have already received the Bronze Level Award.
GOLD LEVEL CONTINUING AWARD
This program is for teens continuing with the Award who have already received the Silver Level Award.

Adventurous Journey Series
Are you ready to challenge yourself, connect with others, and explore the great outdoors? Your next step in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is here and we’re thrilled to invite you to join an unforgettable Adventurous Journey with The YES!
This series will be supervised by The YES and take place in the Greater Victoria area. Spring 2026 Adventurous Journey details will be available soon!

Bronze Adventurous
Journey
This registration includes both the Practice and Qualifying Journeys for Bronze level participants. The program includes one day hike and one overnight experience, with all activities supervised by experienced outdoor leaders.

Silver Practice
Journey
This registration is designed for Silver level participants, this single overnight trip builds the skills and confidence needed for the Qualifying Journey. Join us for a supported outdoor experience focused on navigation, teamwork, and campcraft.

Silver Qualifying
Journey
This two-night expedition completes the Adventurous Journey requirement for Silver level participants. Working as a team, youth will navigate, camp, and cook independently while being supported by trained staff.

Media Club 2026

Are you working on your Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award? The YES Media Club fully meets the Skill Section requirements for the Bronze and Silver levels.
You will explore leadership through videos, TED Talks, podcasts, articles, and short films. Then we meet online to talk about what you learned and how it connects to your life.
The program gives you clear, trackable hours for your ORB. You will also build skills in communication, empathy, self awareness, teamwork, collaboration, and digital citizenship.
When you finish, you will receive a YES Leadership Certificate and we will sign off on your Skill requirement.
Leadership & Self-Development Stream
Our Leadership & Self-Development Media Club will introduce you to exciting new ideas, stories, information and theories that will open up new possibilities for the way you think about the world. This program simultaneously provides an opportunity to engage in today's most relevant topics and to build our perspectives and leadership skills through conversations that range from topics including empathy, sustainability, collective care, and more!
Media Club Level 1 qualifies for the Bronze Skills Section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. Participants can use their meeting time, independent media work, and written or verbal reflections to complete the required weekly skill development hours.
Media Club Level 2 qualifies for the Silver Skills Section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The extended inquiry project supports ongoing skill development and provides a clear structure for meeting weekly hour requirements and demonstrating progress over time.

The YES Media Club is open to all youth ages 14-18 in British Columbia.
