Welcome
This is not your average book club.
We're so glad you're here.

The YES Media Club brings teens from across British Columbia together to explore ideas that matter. Every two weeks, participants receive a curated set of media to explore. Then we gather on Zoom to talk about what we learned, how it connects to our lives, and how we can grow as leaders.
Through TED Talks, podcasts, videos, films, and articles, youth explore empathy, identity, anti-racism, community care, digital citizenship, co-operation, and conflict skills. Meetings are hosted by YES facilitators who help spark conversation and reflection.
No grades, no pressure. Just real conversations, new ideas, and a supportive community. Participants who complete all sessions receive a YES Leadership Certificate.

Leadership & Self-Development
Our Leadership & Self-Development Media Club will introduce you to exciting new ideas, stories, information and theories that will open up new possibilities for the way you think about the world. This program simultaneously provides an opportunity to engage in today's most relevant topics and to build our perspectives and leadership skills through conversations that range from topics including empathy, sustainability, collective care, and more!
Media Club Level 1: Leadership and Self Development
Build your foundation in leadership, empathy, and communication.
In Level 1, participants explore curated media such as TED Talks, podcasts, videos, documentaries, and articles that highlight different perspectives on leadership, empathy, cooperation, and personal growth. Every two weeks, you will receive a media list that takes about 2 to 4 hours to complete. Afterward, the group meets online through Zoom to discuss the topic and share reflections. Sessions are guided by The YES Leadership Team and guest facilitators.
Through open conversation and guided reflection, participants practice communication skills, deepen self awareness, and build meaningful connections. After completing the program, you will receive a Level 1 Leadership Certificate from The YES.
Media Club Level 2: Leadership and Self Development
Take your learning further with an inquiry project.
Level 2 is an extension of Media Club Level 1. Participants complete the first seven sessions in the same format as Level 1. After building this shared foundation, they begin an inquiry project that encourages deeper investigation and personal exploration.
After Session 7, each participant selects a personal passion, question, or leadership theme they want to explore more deeply. With support from YES facilitators, you will design and complete a small inquiry project that connects your interests with the ideas we have been studying. This project is an opportunity to investigate something meaningful to you, stretch your leadership capacity, and reflect creatively on your learning.
Participants continue to join biweekly Zoom discussions and receive media lists throughout the program. At the end of Level 2, participants receive a Level 1 Leadership Certificate and Level 2 Leadership Certificate with Distinction that recognizes their extended commitment and inquiry work.
