a typical day at YES Camp 2021

Below you will find typical days of YES Camp between our new virtual programming and our new hybrid day camp programming.

While we will schedule out our days in advance, it is possible that some times and locations may change depending on programming and activities, such as an evening day for a Talent Show or community dinner. For all hybrid/in-person programs, health regulations will be followed closely for COVID-19 guidelines in British Columbia. virtual morning

Each morning at 10 o'clock, we begin the day by gathering as a community for a virtual meet and greet and bonding. Participants are encourage to eat breakfast before signing on and also have an option to participate in a mindfulness activity at 9:30AM.

Each day we cover a different topic including self-awareness, communication, co-operation, and leadership. Sessions are active, informative, and a lot of fun.

hybrid morning

Participants will meet at a central location at 9:30am for an optional mindfulness activity, before jumping into bonding activities and fun games at 10AM. Participants are encouraged to eat breakfast before joining.

Each day we cover a different topic including self-awareness, communication, co-operation, and leadership. Sessions are active, informative, and a lot of fun.

virtual afternoon

After a few hours, participants are welcome to log off for a lunch break at 12PM. Once we are re-energized, we move into more community and collaborative based activities, from fun online games, co-operative art projects, at home scavenger hunts and more. These activities range day to day, and come to a close at 3PM.

hybrid afternoon

After connecting as a group, and in one on one activities, we have a lunch break at 12PM. After we are re-energized, we rejoin as a community to explore more activities on the above topics, and also create space for activities including a beach day together, a hike, tie-dye and more. Our in person activities come to a close between 3PM-4PM.

virtual evening

After 3PM, we go offline until 7PM. In this gap, participants are encouraged to eat dinner, and catch up on anything else that may need their attention outside of camp. At 7 o'clock we reconnect online for a few hours to play silly games and activities for a final kick of energy, and then start to wind down before we settle into Reflections. In small staff-led groups (Colour Groups), participants gather to discuss important issues, share stories from their lives, and reflect on their days at camp. Reflections is a part of camp that participants come to value deeply.

After Reflections, we lead into our final activity: Relaxations. A few staff might play some music, read a story or share some poetry, or invite participants up to share something similar. Relaxations is intended to wind our days down together.

By 10PM our virtual day is complete, and we log off for a restful evening.
