Typical Day

8:30 am – Wake and Shake: Everyone gets together and gets the blood flowing. The music is always going and it’s a great way to get everyone together to start the day.

9:00 am – Breakfast

10:00 am – Session: Each morning session will cover a different topic including self-awareness, communication, co-operation and leadership. The sessions are very active and a lot of fun!

1:00 pm – Lunch

1:45 pm – Committee Meetings: Each participant will be part of a committee that will help plan many parts of camp. These include afternoon and evening activities, the dance etc. At Basic Camp these committees are actively facilitated by staff.

3:00 pm – Afternoon Activities: This can range from canoeing and kayaking to swimming, a hike, or lantern building, just to name a few.

4:45 pm – Free Time

5:30 pm – Town Council: A participant from each committee is elected to town council. Council reports on plans for the rest of camp and receives feedback from the camp community about activities and plans.

6:00 pm – Dinner

7:30 pm – Evening Activity: Again, this is strongly participant influenced and might include a dance, bon fire, talent show etc.

9:30 pm – Evening Snack

9:45 pm – Reflections: In small staff lead groups, participants sit in a comfortable and quiet location to discuss issues that they feel are important. Though usually initiated by staff, the discussion is open to
go in the direction that the group chooses. Reflections is a part of camp that many participants come to value deeply.

11:00 pm – Relaxation: The whole camp community comes together in a comfortable open place to wind down. Guitars are often played as participants have time to think over the events of the day.

11:30 pm – Bed Time…
